Managing your Personal Profile

Overview – To understand how to update your own profile and other settings within Church Community Builder


  • Husband or Wife – Can edit their own and anyone else’s profile in their family
  • Child – Can edit their own profile only

Use the links below to find the specific answer to your questions.

  • When you log in, you can access your profile by clicking on your name at the top of the screen
  • You can choose to either view or edit your profile

  • If you are viewing your profile, you can edit it by using the links on the right

  • If you need to edit any information, make the change
  • Then make sure to click Save when you are done

  • Only the primary contact or spouse can view or edit a family member’s profile
  • Click your name at the top
  • Select Profile

  • Click the Family tab
  • Then click the name of the family member you want to view or edit
  • Remember, just use the link on the right to edit their profile

What if I forgot my username or my password?

  • If you have forgotten either your username or password, click the Forgot Username or Password? link on the login page

  • Enter the email that you receive communication from the church
  • Click Submit

  • An email will be sent with a link to reset the password

  • Enter a new password on this screen
  • If you need to change your username, log in and follow the instructions below

How do I change my username or my password?

  • When you log in, you can access your username and password by clicking on your name at the top of the screen
  • Then select the Username / Password menu item

  • On this screen, you can change both your username and password
  • The password is intentionally left blank to keep the current password secure

A few notes about security first

  • We take the security of your data very seriously! For details of how we secure our servers check out this article
  • You have to login for the potential of seeing data and your church staff are the only ones who give users access, a user cannot get access on their own
  • So the only users seeing your data are other church attenders and this section describes how to hide or show personal data from your other church attenders

How to change your privacy levels

  • When you log in, you can access your privacy settings by clicking on your name at the top of the screen
  • Select the Privacy Settings menu item

  • First choose Listed or Unlisted
  • An Unlisted profile can only be viewed by church staff
    • Unlisted is a great option for those who must keep their data private like government officials, police officers, etc
    • Unlisted is not a good option if you are only worried about security as it will hinder the community in the site
  • A Listed profile can be viewed by other church attenders

  • If you choose Unlisted, there are no other options to choose
  • Click Save when you are done
  • If you chose Listed, then a list of fields are displayed
  • You can set the privacy level of each of these fields independently
  • You have 4 levels of privacy to set for each field, they are:
    • Everybody – Any Basic User who logs in can see this data
    • Friends Only – Only profiles the person adds as a Friend can view this data (See the section below on Friendsto learn more)
    • Friends & My Groups Members – Only profiles marked as Friends and participants of Members Interactgroups can view this data
    • Church Leadership Only – Only users with at minimum Limited Read privilege can view this data
  • Make your choices per field
  • Click Save when you are done
When you log in, you can access your communication settings by clicking on your name at the top of the screen
Select the Communication Settings menu item

You can set your preference per group that you participate in
Use the check boxes on each row (group) to set your preferences
Send me emails from group participants – If unchecked, you will not receive any emails from this group.
Send comments to me immediately – If unchecked, you will need to log in to see responses to emails.
Send me a weekly summary of group activity – This email is sent once a week on Fridays.
Send me text messages from group leaders – If unchecked, you will not receive text messages or text reminders

Scroll down for the next set of preferences
You can set the defaults for all future groups
And you can determine if you receive All Church emails as well
Make sure to click Save Settings when you are done
